I know personal projects are important - they stretch you creatively, they allow you that all important design freedom and they can push you in new creative directions. As a passionate graphic designer you find inspiration everywhere! All you regular readers of the Eightyone Design blog will know, we have passion for VW campervans. We used to own a VW T25 (the brick!) and we recently decided that we wanted a more reliable and modern vehicle and purchased a new T5 Transporter. However, we were being ridiculously fussy with the camper interior and decided to buy a bare van and get a bespoke interior made for us. Now, there are a plethora of companies who can provide this service and from the various VW shows we’ve visited and online forums we avidly use we narrowed the search down to three companies in Devon.

Spring certainly feels like it’s sprung here at eightyone design, as we just can’t seem to stop photographing flowers, all shapes and colours welcome! Well 2009 has come and gone, so it’s time for a little bit of reflection. This time last year we posted about our New Years resolutions, some of which we adopted and some fell by the wayside before we’d even hit February! We managed to stop naming files ‘this-one’ or ‘final-this-one’, although our desktop’s are still as full as ever. We did, however, launch our new website back in March, so overall we are pretty proud. One New Years resolution we would like to expand upon was our pledge to create more personal projects. I have thoroughly enjoyed indulging in photography this year with my DSLR, but that’s as far as the personal projects went, so in 2010 we will try our best to develop more personal projects. (more…)

I was a very good girl this year and lucky enough to be given a Canon EOS 450D by Santa! In our New Years Resolution Blog Post we vowed to make more time for personal projects and I have been snapping away whenever I’ve had a free afternoon! I’ve posted a couple of pics below, but please be forgiving as apart from a couple of modules at Uni (which seems like light years ago) I’ve not had any kind of photography training. (more…)
