Design and Development of the Sea Feather website

Sea Feather is a British, precision engineered, custom built, wind vane self – steering, for yachts in the 20 to 35ft range. Sea Feather is based in Dartmouth, South Devon.

Sea Feather invited eightyone to create a website showcasing their self steering wind vane. The website needed to show the vast amount of boats that have the wind vane fitted and encourage users to get in contact.

Wireframe

Sea Feather had a wide range of images showcasing their product and we wanted to make full use of these in the website. Also, other websites in the industry were particularly image heavy indicating that the heavy use of imagery would fit in well with their target markets.

We made sure that the wireframe allowed room for a dominant header image and a large area for content, allowing a sizeable gallery to load.

Design

Sea Feather already had a colour scheme in place. We wanted to keep the design clean and simple so not to distract from their photography. We presented two versions of the Sea Feather website, one with a clean and simple nav, the other with photography as the backdrop to the navigation.

The client preferred the navigation with photography backdrop.

Build

As the Sea Feather website won’t be updated frequently we built a static website rather than integrating a CMS.

Please feel free to visit the Sea Feather website – www.sea-feather.co.uk

Paul Dolton, owner of Sea Feather comments; “Very pleased. The site looks excellent and we have received several orders already directly from people visiting the site. Great Job, thank you very much.”
