Design and Development of the Wooly’s Logo Design

Wooly’s Fish and Chip Shop is in Preston, Paignton. Wooly’s pride themselves in serving traditional fish and chips, sourcing their fish from ethical and sustainable sources.

Wooly’s required a logo design for shop signage. The logo needed to be bold and noticeable, ensuring that passers by knew the shop was fish and chips takeaway.

We wanted a (fat) fish to feature prominently in the logo design to get those taste buds functioning and wanted it to attract the families and elderly residence in the neighbourhoods surrounding the fish and chip shop. That to us meant nothing too high end, the logo had to be welcoming and fresh to attract trade from the local residence.

After creating some initial sketches we mocked up some of the more favourable concepts in Illustrator.

Woolys initial logo designs

All concepts feature a fish very prominently and we have tried to work the fish into the company name. As you can see logos 1 and 2 are a very similar concept with different executions. We weren’t too happy with the hollow fish, and felt this logo would better suit a more up market fish restaurant. We particularly liked logos 3 and 4 and felt they were particularly bold and welcoming.

Our client agreed and decided on logo 4 with no changes or amends at all!

As well as the logo we recently designed a flyer for Wooly’s which was distributed throughout the neighbourhood with great success and there are now queues to round the block to try the new fish and chip shop!
